Leon & Charlotte Nixon
Leon was born in 1954 in Chowan County to Murray & Marion Nixon. His father established Murray L. Nixon Fishery in 1967. Leon grew up in the business driving trucks and delivering seafood. In 1973, he married his childhood sweetheart Charlotte Toppin, and they have three children together. Murray L. Nixon Fishery branched off in 1995 to Nixon's Family Restaurant. Leon ran the family restaurant until 1999 when he again branched off to start Leon Nixon Catering. His Eastern North Carolina BBQ quickly gained a reputation as the best, his catering crews became known as top-notch professionals, and the rest, as they say, is history...
